Equuleus Pictoris is Latin for "painter's easel". It is also the name of a constellation in the Southern Celestial Hemisphere that was named by French astronomer Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille in the 18th century. More recently, a young NASA summer intern, Wolf Cukier, discovered a circumbinary planet (a planet that orbits two stars) in the Pictoris constellation. Computer renderings of the planet, TOI 1338b, depict the planet's atmosphere in beautiful pastel hues. "Equuleus Pictoris Rising" is inspired by the newly discovered planet.
